Lexington, KY – The National Association of State Procurement Officials (NASPO) announced today a donation of $25,000 to support ongoing relief efforts for communities devastated by the catastrophic flooding that swept through Central Texas over the July 4th weekend. This donation is provided through NASPO Gives Back, the organization’s ongoing disaster relief program that has assisted communities across the country over the past several years.
The events began on July 4th across the Texas Hill Country when close to 11 inches of rain fell in multiple counties, causing flash floods as the Guadalupe River rose 26 feet within 45 minutes. To date, the floods have claimed more than 100 lives, with dozens more still missing. Search efforts continue for those still missing as emergency response teams from local, state, and federal agencies have been working around the clock. Many residents are displaced, and areas remain without power or internet access.
“In times of crisis, it’s crucial that organizations come together to support communities in need,” said Lindle Hatton, NASPO CEO. “Our thoughts are with the families who have lost loved ones, the first responders working tirelessly in dangerous conditions, and all those working to support and eventually rebuild these communities.”
NASPO remains committed to supporting communities in crisis and encourages other organizations to join the relief efforts.
