The National Association of State Procurement Officials (NASPO) successfully hosted the third Global Procurement Vision Summit (GPVS) prior to the NASPO Exchange 2025 conference on March 3, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event brought together NASPO leadership and board members, local, education and state procurement representatives from the United States, the Canadian Public Procurement Council (CPPC) and United Kingdom/European Union government representatives to continue global collaboration discussions from Exchange 2024 in Nashville, TN.
The Summit attendees engaged in discussions aimed at addressing common challenges, talent development and retention initiatives, updates on the Procurement Professionals Alliance, sharing best practices, and creating pathways for future cooperation.
“The Global Procurement Vision Summit represents a shared goal in NASPO’s commitment to elevating the procurement profession worldwide,” said Lindle Hatton, NASPO Chief Executive Officer. “By bringing together procurement leaders from different governance systems, we’re creating valuable opportunities to learn from one another and develop unified approaches to common challenges.”
This year’s Summit builds on the collaboration agreement that was signed at NASPO Exchange 2024 between NASPO and members of the United Kingdom, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland Commercial and Procurement Functions. The agreement was made with the goal of learning from one another and advancing procurement knowledge, helping to maximize impact and outcomes through the power of procurement, and raise the profile of the profession as the global standard.
“This Summit has continued to open important channels of communication between procurement professionals on both sides of the Atlantic,” said Deb Damore, NASPO Board President. “We face many similar challenges, and this collaboration will help us implement more effective and innovative procurement solutions.”
One of the key outcomes of the meeting is to begin collaborating on various projects beginning in Q2, all aimed at elevating the procurement profession globally and addressing common challenges faced by procurement professionals across different governance systems.
Additional focus of this year’s GVPS was the continued development of the Procurement Professionals Alliance (PPA). Participants discussed building out the PPA membership model and establishing a framework for collaboration and alignment with international partners. PPA, which was discussed during previous summits, aims to create a global network of procurement professionals dedicated to standardizing best practices, providing professional development opportunities, and elevating the procurement profession.
