ARPA and IIJA Funds—Is Your Office Ready?

You’ve probably seen the news about the federal money coming to states and cities from the ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) and the IIJA (Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act). There is a LOT of money at stake, and this means it is time to plan for a LOT of projects.  

 

NASPO’s partners at the National Governors’ Association, the National Conference of State Legislatures, and the National League of Cities have all gathered crucial information to help their members and ours get ready for this massive influx of dollars and work.  

This money has the potential to be transformative for states and local governments. Here is a quick overview of the ARPA and IIJA to help make sure your office is getting ready to spend.

What Does It Cover?	Funds to keep first responders, frontline health workers, teachers, and other providers of vital services safely on the job Critical capital projects directly enabling work, education, and health monitoring, including remote options, in response to the public health emergency with respect to the Coronavirus Disease.	Transportation (public transit, rail, airports, roads, and bridges) Energy (nuclear reactors, support for weatherization programs) Environment (water treatment, waterway restoration, forest fire resources) Cybersecurity (risk identification and mitigation) Broadband (building connections and making service affordable)
