Michael Haifley Deputy Chief Procurement Officer

Mr. Haifley began his career in procurement and materials management in 1982 as a Supply Officer in the Maryland Department of Health & Mental Hygiene before moving to the Maryland Aviation Administration as a Buyer. He left the Maryland Aviation Administration in 1988 for local government procurement, subsequently retiring as the Director of Procurement for Frederick County Maryland in 2004. Upon his “retirement” Mike immediately went to work for Washington County Maryland, and later, Loudoun County, Virginia as the Assistant Purchasing Agent. In August 2007 Mike was appointed as the Director of Procurement for the Maryland Department of General Services where he served until November 2011 when he became the Deputy Director, and later the Director of Procurement for the Secretary’s Office of the Maryland Department of Transportation. In March of 2019 Mike was appointed as the Deputy Chief Procurement Officer of the Maryland State Procurement Office. Mike is certified by the Universal Public Purchasing Certification Council (UPPCC) as both a Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO), since 1994, and a Certified Public Purchasing Buyer (CPPB) since 1988.
