We will get to know our Regional Chairs and Vice-Chairs in the months leading up to the 2023 NASPO REACH Conference. Starting us off is the Midwestern Region!

What is the most interesting part of public procurement for you?
“It is interesting how much we get to understand about the operations and functions of all of the various agencies throughout the state. Whether it is administering state assessments for school children, how pharmacy services are provided for our veterans in our veteran homes, or food services at correctional facilities, we get to learn so many things about how our state operates!”

Genevieve Hayes, State of Michigan
Midwestern Regional Council Vice-Chair

What is the top priority for your state procurement office for 2023?
”To increase our spend with Geographically-Disadvantaged Business Enterprises.”

What is your advice for working with other agencies in the state?
“To learn as much as you can about their business processes.”
