NASPO donates to American Red Cross in support of its members affected by Super Typhoon Sinlaku

Lexington, KY – The National Association of State Procurement Officials (NASPO) today announced a $25,000 donation to the American Red Cross to support disaster relief efforts in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) and Guam following the devastating landfall of Super Typhoon Sinlaku.

Super Typhoon Sinlaku made landfall in the Northern Mariana Islands on April 14-15, 2026, bringing sustained winds of up to 150 miles per hour and inflicting widespread destruction across Saipan, Tinian, and Rota. More than 11,000 homes were left without power, roads were rendered impassable, the island’s only hospital suffered severe flooding, and many residents lost access to clean water. Guam, home to approximately 170,000 residents, also sustained significant flooding and damage.

NASPO’s primary membership includes the directors of central purchasing offices across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the territories of the United States – including Guam and the CNMI.

“The strength of NASPO lies in the strength of every member we serve,” said Lindle Hatton, Chief Executive Officer of NASPO. “The communities of Guam and Northern Mariana Islands are part of our NASPO family, and we stand with them as they begin the difficult work of recovery. We are committed to supporting our members not only in their work in public procurement, but also in their times of greatest need.”

The donation is a part of NASPO’s ongoing NASPO Gives Back initiative, which reflects the organization’s commitment to service and community through donations for disaster relief, sustainability efforts at its conferences, and support for local causes within NASPO staff’s communities, such as food banks, educational programs, community centers, and much more.

NASPO encourages anyone who is interested in contributing to relief efforts in the CNMI and Guam to visit www.redcross.org, call 1-800-RED-CROSS, or mail a check to a local Red Cross office.
