The National Association of State Procurement Officials (NASPO) announced a donation today to aid in the relief and recovery efforts in response to the recent catastrophic fire that ravaged the beautiful island of Maui in August 2023. Hawaii, one of NASPO’s primary members, has been deeply affected by this disaster, prompting the organization to step forward and provide support in this time of need.
The fire, which started on August 8, 2023, caused extensive damage to homes, natural habitats, and infrastructure across more than 10,000 acres on the island.
“Our hearts go out to the people of Maui during this challenging time,” said Lindle Hatton, CEO of NASPO. “NASPO stands united with Hawaii, and we want to support the recovery process however we can.”
NASPO’s donation was made through the Maui Strong Fund. Donations will support evolving needs, including immediate relief efforts, such as shelter, food, and medical assistance for those affected by the disaster and more as identified by those on site in Maui. “Hawaii is a valued member of NASPO and our extended community,” said Delbert Singleton, NASPO Board President. “We hope this donation will help support the tremendous relief efforts underway and make a difference in people’s lives as they work to recover from this tragedy.”
